Glad to make update...

Thu Aug 13, 2009, 8:13 PM

I am glad to make an update, a retraction of sorts, concerning a previous Journal entry of mine. Beings the situation that brought about that entry has changed, I have decided to remove that Journal entry and post this one.

On Aug 7, 2009 I had placed a Journal entry which vented my anger concerning the addition of banner-ads on one of my main websites. These banner-ads were not placed on my site by me, but rather by my site's host (without any consent or fore warning). Because of this, I had dropped what all I was into to replace all web links that I had linking to that site. (We sometimes forget what wicked webs we weave...)

After changing links on all of the places that really mattered, I began to feel more at ease. If I go to a website to view content, the last thing I wish to see is more advertising! I believe this to be true for most of us. When I look into hosting solutions for my websites I check for a couple of things... That the host offers enough space for my particular site, and that the host does NOT force ads on the pages. I'm not out to sell products or run a store with my sites (though it probably wouldn't be a bad idea). My sites are to promote my abilities in coding and graphics, in hopes of obtaining employment in these areas.

Anyhow, after all the rerouting I had done to remove reference to the banner-ad site, the host decides to remove the banner-ads! Go figure... All that I can figure is that enough folks with that same host had complained, or started pulling their content from that host.

Now, I just have another web address to add to my collection...

How ya' doin', Dude? Noticed you dropped by, thought I would too.

So, I pull my coat back and real slow (no reason to start it up yet) I rest my hand by the Smith. Then I give them that cold smile and in the low, soft killing voice I say, "Gentlemen, I'm your worst nightmare. A gunfighter with a rendering station"

I've been around...

Keepin' busy with my Linux endeavors. Ain't been doin' much graphics stuff lately. With the ecconomy bein' as it is I haven't had much tat-work to do either. Tryin' to just keep my head up 'n hope for the best.

Noticed that you're always submittin' new works. Keep it up!

Thanks for droppin' by!

Might (though you probably already have) approach local club chapters with a "I do a public party at your ch one night and the citizens get 15% off, I do 4-5 hours the next night and your folk get %50 off" deals.

They guy who does our work gets those and LOVES them - and the party favors :D

This was a response to a comment on a graphic I did...

Thought you'd enjoy it.

"Oh, is that what Digital programs are about bending them to our wills"

Well, you wants it to makes a sunset, it wants to makes a sunrise, you instruct it (exactly) on how you wants your sunset to look. After rendering, your sunset looks remarkably like a sunrise... and again, and again, and...

Eventually, one must just ignores all of ones humanity and attach the electrodes to the program's little digital genitals. Does it changes you? OF COURSE! It takes a hard soul indeed to listens to the screaming of the code, the subroutines begging, the very variables themselves all going global and their values becoming "I'm sorry!" and still not stop until (at last) one gets one's sunset.

I, as you can see, got my sunset.

Again, the cynical opinions of those that don't understand how we arrive at our results. Not ';pre-configured'.
In the old days, 'Hacker' was not a 'dirty word'. It simply was a term to describe someone that did not accept those ';pre-configured' results, but sought the results that fit their intended means. 'THAT' is never a bad thing!
Bro, keep up the striving towards that which satisfies your means... 'No matter what must be done!'
Interpretation is always a divided opinion in art anyhow...

Check out these two when you have some spare time: [link] and [link] first is bryce 'tooned, second is just bryce.

Nice to hear from you.

Something happened yesterday (7-21-08) that left me aware of a rather large issue. I have always tried to get around to submitting works to this site for display in my gallery here, but with my having my Personal Site to work with/on, well, I have a considerable amount of images hosted there that are not on display here.
I had posted my 'Fella Finally Gets Award' and received notice that it had been placed as a favourite by another Deviant. Because it was mentioned that 'Fella' was the subject liked so much I went to retrieve and forward the links to other 'Fella' graphics that I had submitted over these past few years. What I found in my submitted works here was not all that I had of 'Fella', I was certain of this.
Because I knew that I had some other 'Fella' graphics I went to my galleries on my Personal Site (I have 3 galleries there) and low and behold, there were the other 3D 'Fella' graphics that I knew were on display 'somewhere'.
So, if anyone likes my graphics that I have posted here (over 100 so far), please, take the time to click on the link to my Personal Site ( [link] ). There's a few hundred entries in my galleries there that are not present here. I also have a small selection of KDE additions at KDE-Look.org ( [link] )
Anyhow, I just thought I'd add this text entry to my page to let you all know. Another thing... My site is clean. I would not supply a link here to a messed up, immoral, site. I've been a Deviant of good standing since

I would not wish to tarnish that sort of reputation.
Enjoy!

Well, sidetracked again! This time I've booted Windoze completely off the system!

I've been rather preoccupied with operating systems (finding something new... ). Hey, what's the use doing graphics work on an operating system that isn't right for you?

After installing all the headliners available for Linux distributions these days (Jeez, that was a job!!!) ...and checking out what each had to offer, I now have 2 (duel-boot) that I've decided to stick with for awhile... openSUSE and Mandriva. Those may not be your particular choices in operating systems, but that's why there exists a 'choice' for each individual to choose from.

As for reasons, well, this is an Art site, so I don't feel it appropriate to elaborate here. Soon, my personal site will have some input to reflect my reasons.

The only reason that I've placed this entry here was to let folks know 'why' I haven't been submitting new entries to my gallery (after having, obviously, made progress in the learning how to do things in the 3D world)...

Hey, if I couldn't do stuff with The GIMP and ArtOfIllusion, I'd still be looking for an operating system!!! The GIMP came from Linux... and I have Java running under both of my current OS's, so ArtOfIllusion runs well there also!

:tux:Gotta love Open-Source!!!

:icongigrafx:
Been a while since I'd been submitting new items to my gallery.

I've been working with a few nice ideas in renderings that I've been putting together using ArtOfIllusion, K3D, and a few other OpenSource apps available.

Glad to be able to add things available
to this gallery...

...Enjoy!
